Might have to rope DeathSprayCustom in to make me one.

Maybe I could knit a sweater using it. Hmmmmmmm

This Eric Haze orignal marker on paper was for sale on ArtNet a couple of months ago. I really wanted it. I will always regret not buying it but I didn’t have $8k or so sitting around gathering dust. Sigh.

In the meantime, I know a photographer in London who toured with Beastie Boys and has orignal prints available> might have to take a visit. I’ve got one already, but it’s Adrock and Mike D. It only seems right that I get one with MCA too. Shit. I’m still sad about it all. Spent all morning putting work on hold as me and GMan watched their music vids.

As a loyal ex-pat Cumbrian I have a particular fondness towards this brand. They just seem to get their aesthetic spot on. It’s a brand steeped in tradition but brought bang-on-trend into the here and now, which for me is a recipe for success. There’s a trend for quality over quantity and the appreciation of well-made, crafted goods , considerate use of quality materials and a responsibility to manufacturing from expert craftspeople. All these considerations in a product/purchase is spreading as a mindset so Home of Millican bags tick lots of boxes.

The bag featured here is the Les cooler bag. After getting in touch with Nicky and Jorrit who started this brand and chatting about my Cumbrian connections, I discovered that this bag was actually named after my  mum’s cousin! Small world, well not really, not if your Grandad was a born and bred Cumbrian and one of 13 kids.

These are old but it doesn’t make them any the less wonderful. In my opinion they have stood the test of internet time (which isn’t long really) and still look as good and relevent as ever.

I’m on a shoot in Holland. Our first port of call, quite literally, is at The Hotel New York in Rotterdam. This hotel survived the bombing in the war that more or less flattened Rotterdam. The hotel used to be the ticket office where people bought tickets before setting sail to New York, hence the name.

The hotel is full of shipping memorabilia. Old naval coats, trunks, boat plans, old photographs and original amazing interiors featuring a central open staircase. It was great to sleep surrounded by history.

The punk inspired sweater is complete. It was a joy to knit and it’s a joy to wear.

Take that high street and your production line, churned out knitwear. I’d rather make it any day.

Last summer I was desperately trying to get my hands on these. They do them in neon yellow, green and pink. Any would have done but I couldn’t get hold of them for love nor money.

But yesterday they popped up in the Vans store. Back in stock. My nod to neon. Love em.
